Target Field History and Overview
Target Field is the home of the Minnesota Twins and is located in downtown Minneapolis. It opened in 2010 and hosted the 2016 MLB All-Star Game. Due to its geography, Target Field has heated viewing areas and a heated field. It has a capacity of 39,021.
Target Field Seat Numbers
The Target Field seating chart with seat numbers shows that seat 1 is always closer to the lower-numbered adjacent section. For example, seat 1 in section 122 would be closest to the highest numbered seat in section 121.
Typically, the best seats are closer to home plate. Going by that logic, if you’re on the left-field line, you’d want a seat with a lower seat number, and on the right-field line, you’d look for a higher seat number. (So remember, don’t think of seat and row numbers as the same thing.)
Minnesota Twins Best Seats
The best seats at Target Field are in the Champions Club seats behind home plate. However, most baseball fans are not looking to spend that much, so the 100-level sections around the infield are also a great option.
Many Twins fans will tell you there isn’t a bad seat in the house, and almost every seat offers a view of the Minneapolis skyline, aside from the bleacher and home run deck sections.
Minnesota Twins Premium Seating
Target Field and the Minnesota Twins Champion Club seats are behind home plate in sections 7-10. Champions Club tickets are the premier seats at Target Field, and the amenities include complimentary food and drink and in-seat wait service, not to mention some of the best views at Target Field. These seats also provide access to the exclusive Champions Club, which boasts standard lounge amenities, including a full bar and HD televisions.
The Legends Club at Target Field is located on the third level in Sections A through R. Legends Club tickets span the entire infield and include amenities such as access to the Kirby Puckett Lounge (near Section C) and the Carew Lounge (near Section P). These lounge areas offer upscale amenities, including food and beverage options, large HD televisions, and comfortable seating.
Minnesota Twins Roof Deck Seats
The Budweiser Roof Deck at Target Field is designed for the ultimate outdoor experience. Located in left field, it offers skyline views of downtown Minneapolis, a bar and concessions area, and the signature fire pit for cool spring and fall nights (the only fire pit in baseball).
Minnesota Twins Dugout and Bullpen
The Minnesota Twins’ dugout is in front of sections 3-6, and the visitors’ dugout is in front of sections 11-14. Both bullpens are located in the left-center field “double-decker” style, with the Twins’ bullpen being farther from the field (to the right of section 131).
Target Field Directions
Traveling to Target Field is incredibly easy. Typically, 8,000 people take the METRO light rail system (the Blue Line), which stops right at Target Field Station. If you are driving to Target Field, the ballpark is immediately adjacent to the A and B parking ramps of the large ABC Ramps complex at the end of Interstate 394.
For fans in the northwest suburbs, the Northstar Line commuter rail service ends in downtown Minneapolis, with a station located underneath the ballpark.
Target Field Sun and Shade Guide
Target Field is an outdoor stadium in downtown Minneapolis, and despite Minnesota’s reputation for cold weather, summer afternoon games here can involve significant sun exposure. The stadium is oriented with home plate facing roughly south-southeast, a layout that puts much of the lower bowl in direct afternoon sun.
For day games, the third base side lower level and the left field corner sections receive the most afternoon sun at Target Field. This is somewhat counterintuitive compared to most stadiums because of the south-southeast orientation. The first base side actually benefits from shade from the upper deck and club level structure earlier in the afternoon. Sections 107 to 121 on the first base side are among the better shaded options for afternoon games.
The Target Field club-level seats, particularly behind home plate, are sheltered by the roof and offer comfortable viewing even for mid-afternoon starts. Left-field upper-deck sections have an overhang that provides shade for the rows directly beneath.
For evening games starting at 7:10 PM, the sun can be low and directly in the eyes of fans seated on the third-base side and in the left-field areas for the first few innings. Sunglasses are useful for these sections in the evening.
Best shaded seats for day games: First-base side, lower-level sections 107 to 121. Club-level sections behind home plate also provide reliable shade.
Bottom line: Target Field breaks from the typical shade pattern due to its south-southeast orientation. First base side is actually the better choice for afternoon shade, which is the reverse of most parks.
ADA Seating at Target Field
For wheelchair users and/or those looking to attend a game at Target Field with someone who uses a wheelchair, there is some important information you’ll want to know. If you’re seeking ADA seating, you’ll find accessible rows at the top of most sections throughout the venue.
If necessary, folding chairs will be provided for guests, such as those who wish to sit with a fan while using a wheelchair. One trick you can use to filter tickets that are ADA accessible is to use our “Additional filters +” button on the event page, which allows you to select “ADA (wheelchair accessible). ” This shows all seats that the seller has marked as accessible seating.
