Comerica Park History and Overview

Comerica Park is located in downtown Detroit at 2100 Woodward Avenue and is the home of the Detroit Tigers. It replaced the old Tiger Stadium for the 2000 MLB season and is one of the most pitcher-friendly ballparks in baseball, a direct contrast to the old Tiger Stadium.

Comerica Park has a capacity of 41,681 for Tigers games, which includes 3,039 club seats and 102 luxury suites.

Comerica Park Seat Numbers

The Comerica Park seating chart with seat numbers indicates that seat 1 is typically located closer to the lower-numbered adjacent section. For example, seat 1 in section 121 would be closest to the highest numbered seat in section 120.

Typically, the best seats are closer to home plate. Going by that logic, if you’re on the left-field line, you’d want a seat with a lower seat number, and on the right-field line, you’d look for a higher seat number. (So remember, don’t think of seat and row numbers as the same thing.)

The Best Seats for Detroit Tigers Games

The Best Seats for a Detroit Tigers game are in the On-Deck seats and around the infield in sections 120-135The Tiger Den seats would come after those, but it can’t score seats in these sections.

The field-level sections are a great option along the first- and third-base lines. And if you are looking to sit with the more rowdy Tiger fans, the bleachers are always a great option.

Premium Seats at Comerica Park

Premium seats for Detroit Tigers games are located in the On-Deck seats (rows 1-12), situated in front of sections 120-135. Although these seats are not padded, they offer in-seat service (for which you still need to pay for food) and provide access to the Tiger Club and Den Lounge. You can view the game from select seats in the Tiger Club, but you cannot view the field from the Den Lounge (only on TVs).

The Tiger Den seats, located in rows A through H in sections 120-135, are larger padded seats that provide access to the club and lounge. The Club Seats, situated behind the Tiger Den Seats, offer no access to the club (ironically) but are padded.

Upper Deck Seats at Comerica Park

Detroit Tiger Fans will tell you that the upper deck seats at the Detroit Tigers Stadium are farther away from the action than you’ve probably experienced before.

If your budget permits, we recommend opting for field-level or bleacher seats. The one upside to the upper-deck seats is that you get a nice view of the city, but not much of the game.

Comerica Park Seats in the Shade

If you are looking for seats in the shade at Comerica Park, you want to sit on the field level on the first base side. The side of the park stays in the shade most of the day. Grab seats in the Tiger Den in row D or higher if you want to be covered entirely from the elements (rain).

Comerica Park Sun and Shade Guide

Comerica Park is oriented with home plate facing roughly south, which is somewhat unusual and affects how the sun and shade are distributed throughout the afternoon. Because of this southern-facing layout, both the first base and third base sides receive varying sun exposure depending on the time of day.

For afternoon games, the sun is largely overhead and to the south, so the outfield bleachers in left and right fields face into the sun for most of the game. The upper deck provides substantial shade to the lower level sections behind home plate and along both baselines as the afternoon progresses. The lower-level sections directly behind home plate, roughly sections 115 to 130, are among the best shaded seats for day games because the press box structure and upper deck effectively block the overhead sun.

The Tiger Den area in the outfield and the right field bleachers are fully exposed for afternoon games. Left field corner sections also receive direct sun through most of a day game.

Evening games at Comerica Park are comfortable throughout the park, and the south-facing layout means fans rarely have to contend with the low-angle sun in their eyes at first pitch.

Best shaded seats for day games: Lower level sections 115 to 130 behind home plate. The upper deck overhangs provide the most shade on both sides of the infield.

Bottom line: Comerica Park’s south-facing orientation makes it one of the more forgiving outdoor stadiums for midday sun. Outfield seats are the exception and get full exposure.

Dugout and Bullpen Locations at Comerica Park

The Detroit Tigers’ Dugout is in front of sections 131-135, and the visitors’ dugout is in front of sections 120-124. The Detroit Tigers’ bullpen and the visiting team’s bullpen are in left field in front of sections 143-151.

Kids Day at Detroit Tigers Games

Every Sunday, the home game at Comerica Park is Kids Day. Kids 14 and under can score a free promotional item, enjoy free rides on the Comerica Park Carousel and Fly Ball Ferris Wheel, get free face painting, and even run the bases postgame.

Where to Get Player Autographs at Tigers Games

Guests are permitted to seek autographs along the railings near the playing field until 45 minutes before the start of the game or when the batting cages are removed. The best sections to try to get autographs are near the dugouts (the on-deck sections).

ADA Seating at Comerica Park

For wheelchair users and/or those looking to attend a game at Comerica Park with someone who uses a wheelchair, there is some important information you’ll want to know. If you’re seeking ADA seating, you’ll find accessible rows at the top of most sections throughout the venue.

If necessary, folding chairs will be provided for guests, such as those who wish to sit with a fan while using a wheelchair. One trick you can use to filter tickets that are ADA accessible is to use our “Additional filters +” button on the event page, which allows you to select “ADA (wheelchair accessible). ” This will show all seats the seller has marked as accessible seating.
