Citizens Bank Park History and Overview
Citizens Bank Park is located in South Philadelphia and is the home of the Philadelphia Phillies. More commonly known as “The Bank” or “CBP”, the park opened for the 2004 season, replacing the old Veterans Stadium.
The ballpark is located in the northeast corner of the Sports Complex, near Lincoln Financial Field, the Wells Fargo Center, and Xfinity Live. Citizens Bank Park has a seating capacity of 43,651 for Phillies games.
Citizens Bank Park Seat Numbers
The Citizens Bank Park seating chart with seat numbers indicates that seat 1 is typically located closer to the lower-numbered adjacent section. For example, seat 1 in section 135 would be closest to the highest numbered seat in section 134.
Typically, the best seats are closer to home plate. Going by that logic, if you’re on the left-field line, you’d want a seat with a lower seat number, and on the right-field line, you’d look for a higher seat number. (So remember, don’t think of seat and row numbers as the same thing.)
Philadelphia Phillies Best Seats
The best seats for a Philadelphia Phillies game, or any baseball game, are located behind the plate and around in the infield in the lower-level sections. Ideally, you want to sit in Sections A-G (Diamond Club), but any other section in the infield is still a great option.
If you are looking for a great time with some friends, the bleachers are where the party is at. Otherwise, even the upper-level infield sections will provide great sight lines, and most Phillies fans will tell you there isn’t a bad seat in the house at Citizens Bank Park.

Philadelphia Phillies Standing Room Only (SRO) Seating
Philadelphia Phillies Family Seating
The Philadelphia Phillies offer a variety of activities for children and families in addition to watching Phillies baseball. The Phanatic Phun Zone is near the first base gate, allowing children 8 and under to climb around in a giant soft play area.
The Phanatic Phood stand, located in Ashburn Alley (behind section 318), offers portions and options that are just the right size for kids.
Philadelphia Phillies Bleacher Seating
The bleacher seats are the place for the fans looking to get rowdy with the rest of the Philly faithful. Fans in these seats frequently tailgate before games and are among the more colorful fans at Citizens Bank Park. For the price of these seats, you’re guaranteed a good time with good views.
Philadelphia Phillies Seats in the Shade
Stick to seats on the third baseline side if you want to stay out of the sun at the Philadelphia Phillies game. Additionally, the last few rows in each section may fall under the overhang of the sections above; however, each section varies, so this is something to be aware of.
Philadelphia Phillies Dugout and Bullpen
The Philadelphia Phillies’ dugout is in front of sections 115-118, and the visitors’ dugout is in front of sections 129-132. The Phillies and Visitors’ bullpen is located to the left of sections 101 and 201.
Citizens Bank Park Sun and Shade Guide
Citizens Bank Park is oriented with home plate facing roughly northeast, a layout that creates a fairly standard and predictable sun pattern. The park’s tall upper deck provides meaningful overhang shade that fans can use during afternoon games.
For day games, the right field section, known as the Rooftop, and the first base side lower level seats are in the most direct sunlight during afternoon starts. The left field bleachers in the Ashburn Alley area also receive afternoon sun, though some partial shade arrives as the game progresses. The third base side lower level, particularly sections 113 to 130, benefits from upper deck shade by the middle innings of a 1:05 PM start.
The Hall of Fame Club and the club level seats behind home plate are sheltered by the press box structure and provide comfortable shade for most of a day game. For a more affordable, shaded option, the upper-level sections on the third-base side, with the overhang above them, are among the best sun-avoiding seats in the park.
For evening games, Citizens Bank Park is comfortable throughout, though the first-base side can experience low-angle late-afternoon sun in the first inning or two of early-evening starts.
Best shaded seats for day games: Lower-level sections 113-130 on the third-base side. The Terrace Level on the third-base side, under the upper deck overhang, is also a strong, shaded option.
Bottom line: Citizens Bank Park follows the standard northeast-facing shade playbook. The third base side lower bowl is your best shaded seat for summer afternoon games
ADA Seating at Citizens Bank Park
For wheelchair users and/or those looking to attend a game at Citizens Bank Park with someone who uses a wheelchair, there is some important information you’ll want to know. If you’re seeking ADA seating, you’ll find accessible rows at the top of most sections throughout the venue.
If necessary, folding chairs will be provided for guests, such as those who wish to sit with a fan while using a wheelchair.
