Although PNC Park doesn’t offer extra amenities in the seats, its food stands are among the best in baseball. Stop by the BBQ Pitt near Section 211 for classic BBQ options, including pulled pork and Texas-style brisket. Near section 213, you will find Bierbauer’s Grill, which offers your classic ballpark fare.

Finally, stop by Gunner’s near sections 214-216 for drinks in a club environment. The menu features locally made sausages and hot dogs, accompanied by a variety of toppings.

For day games, the right field sections and the first base lower level seats receive the most direct afternoon sun. The left field corner sections also see sun during afternoon starts, though shade from the upper deck begins to reach those areas earlier than right field. The Roberto Clemente Bridge, located beyond right-center field, is a scenic backdrop but does not provide shade.

The upper deck overhang at PNC Park is quite deep, which is good news for fans seated in the lower-level rows beneath it on both the first- and third-base sides. Third base lower level sections 111 to 123 are in shade by the third or fourth inning of most afternoon games.

For evening games, PNC Park is consistently comfortable, and the views of the city skyline are best enjoyed from the right field and first base side. The sun sets behind the hills west of downtown, so there is no significant glare for evening starts.

Best shaded seats for day games: Lower level sections 111 to 123 on the third base side. The deep overhangs on both sides make the rows directly beneath the upper deck excellent shade options at any level.

Bottom line: PNC Park is one of the better outdoor parks for managing afternoon sun. The deep upper deck overhang provides reliable shade, and the third-base-side lower bowl is comfortable for most summer-day games.
